Obituary for NICHOLS

LOIS E. CAMPBELL Age 89, a long-time resident of Belen, passed away on May 25, 2012 at her home in Pupukea, Hawaii. Lois was born and grew up in Belen where she lived for 82 years. She was a well-known member of the community, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belen for many years, a member of the Order of Eastern Star Jessamine Chapter #45 and Past-Matron's Club, and attended North Shore Christian Fellowship in Haleiwa, Hawaii. Lois and her husband, Nick were enthusiastic members of the Poco Quatros Model A Ford Club and the Tumbleweed V8 Club, and enjoyed many fun-filled travels with their close-knit group of like-minded friends. Lois and her sister Joyce were known for their lovely voices and were regularly called on to sing for weddings, funerals and other special occasions, for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Nick. She is survived by her daughters Tharan Schmidt and husband Virgil of Wichita, Kansas, Pam Steinberg and husband Steve of Monument, Colorado, Penny King and husband Bob of Pupukea, Hawaii; sons Pat Nichols and wife Robyn of Salamander Bay, New South Wales, Australia, Pete Nichols and wife Carrie of Kihei, Maui, Hawaii; grandchildren Marty Ternes, Michelle Hawk, Cindy Perez, Robin Sneary, Kathy Reynoldson, David Ternes, Nicole Ellis, Jennifer Hefty, Scott Steinberg, Donovan Steinberg, Jackson King, Jillian King, Jarin Williamson, Jesse King, Kearney Nichols, Zack Nichols, Naphtali Cope, Issachar Nichols and Manasseh Nichols; 16 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. Lois was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, aunt and friend, always ready and willing to tackle whatever life threw at her with enthusiasm and a smile. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church of Belen, 75 Manzano Expressway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lois' name to the charity of your choice.
