JAY SIDNEY A resident of Albuquerque since 2009, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2012 in Albuquerque, NM after a brief illness. Jay was born in Yorkton, Canada on October 7, 1922 to Louis and Eve Druxman. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sis Druxman; children, Janet Levine, Louis Druxman and wife Barbara, and Michael Druxman and wife Jana; grandchildren, Joel Druxman and wife Vlada, Eric Druxman and wife Melissa, Lee Druxman, Jessica Druxman, and Molly Levine; great-grandchildren, Naomi and Jonathan Druxman and Logan Druxman. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Bea Klein, and brother-in-law, Sonny Klein, as well as many nieces and nephews. Jay spent his youth in Huntington Beach, California, enjoying surfing and beach life until he joined the Coast Guard. He attended the University of Southern California where he met Sis. He spent most of his adult life in Las Cruces, NM, where he was an active business and civic leader, serving as a state officer for the National Junior Chamber of Commerce and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Jay was a founding member of Temple Beth El and served as its president for two terms. For many years, Jay owned Jay Druxman Men's Apparel, which later became Jay's Clothes Rack. In 1975 Jay and Sis moved to El Paso, Texas where he managed the Union Fashion. In El Paso, Jay was a member of Temple Mt. Sinai and served on the board of the Jewish Federation of El Paso. In Albuquerque, he was a member of Congregation Albert. Jay was an accomplished watercolor artist and received recognition in numerous juried art shows. He continued painting through the last days of his life. He was an avid storyteller and never ran out of jokes. Graveside services were held Monday, August 6 at Masonic Cemetery in Las Cruces, NM with Rabbi Larry Bach officiating.
