JOHN CHARLES John Rice, Jay or JC to his kin, was raised in rural areas of Arkansas including Dumas, Rover, Booneville, Yell and Desha counties. He was the eldest of seven born into a sharecropper's family. In the early 50's he moved to southern California for a career as a heavy equipment operator. He retired to Russellville, Arkansas in 1975. He loved to hunt and fish and had many good friends in the area. He was also an avid fan of the Weather channel and the Catfish "N". Born in 1925, John died on July 24, at the age of 86. His reception party included his mom and dad, Lottie and Porter Rice; his four brothers, Richard (RH), Bill (Tuff), Bob and Darrell; his first wife, Louise (Lou), of 25 years; his second wife, Marie, of 40 years; his eldest son Dwaine, and his only daughter Melody (Mel). Kin bidding him farewell are his sister, Sue; his son, Darryl; granddaughter, Jo, and great granddaughter, Hannah, all living out in New Mexico; his grandson, Jason and wife Brittany, living in Alaska. John will be greatly missed, except maybe by the deer, turkeys and fish in Arkansas. There will be no memorial service at his request. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville, Arkansas.
