JOHN N. Age 89, a resident of Rio Rancho, died Friday, July 20, 2012. He is survived by wife, Martha M. Messerli; children, Kathy Pelletier and husband Bob, David J. Messerli and wife, Deanna, daughter, Mary Lujan and husband, Jim, daughter, Jerry Messerli; grandchildren, Tracy Sims and husband, John, Matthew Pelletier and wife, Leah, Sam Messerli and wife, Sabrina, Kayla Mander and husband, Matthew, Jennifer Fouts and husband, Seth, Jared Lujan and wife, Tiara; great-grandchildren, Cody Sims, Alyssa Messerli, Alexander Messerli, Aiden Fouts; and sister, Beverly Sue Amory. John was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Messerli of 35 years. John was a Navy veteran of World War II where he served in the South Pacific. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, since 1934, and loved dancing to Big Band music. He was an active member of Paradise Hills United Methodist Church where he taught children's Sunday school, did medical missions work, and participated in Bubba's. John never met a stranger and loved telling stories. This became even more evident when he and Martha started fulltime RVing, which they enjoyed for over ten years. They were hardly set up before he would take off looking for a new friend. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012, 10:00 a.m., at Paradise Hills United Methodist Church, 4700 Paradise Blvd NW, with interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 69, Operation Wounded Warriors of NM, 9000 4th St. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114 (www.woundedwarriorproject.com).
