JOSE SEVERO "SEVY" 1931-2012 Age 80, a resident of Magdalena, NM passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2012. He was a member of Trinity Christian Fellowship in Socorro, NM. Sevy was born in Kelly, NM on November 3, 1931. His family moved to Magdalena when he was a young child. Sevy joined the AirForce after high school and served in the Korean War. Sevy and Mamie were married for almost 53 years raising their family in Albuquerque and then Magdalena. Sevy retired from the NRAO in 1994. He loved basketball, classic cars and especially his family. He loved being a foster grandparent at Magdalena Elementary School. It was a joy to him to get up in the morning and spend time with those children he loved and who loved him back. Grandpa Sevy loved you all so very much and we know he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Aurelia Tafoya Ortiz of Magdalena, NM; and brother, Frank Ortiz of Albuquerque, NM. Sevy is survived by his loving wife, Mamie Wolfe Ortiz; daughter, Valerie and husband, Dale Key of Magdalena, NM; sons, Leroy and wife, Vanna Wasser of Fayettville, NC and Larry and wife, Tami of Rio Rancho, NM; grandchildren, Jared and Samantha Key, Brian and Kelly Ortiz, Briana and Barrett Ortiz, Michael Lopez, Marisa Lopez, Jack Pettit and Lorelle Moses; great-granddaughter, "Peanut" Cheyenne Elizabeth Bottomly; brothers, Albert Ortiz and wife, Cecelia "Perry" of T or C, NM and Pat Ortiz and wife, Bonnie "Nau" of Albuquerque, NM. A viewing will be held at Magdalena Schools Fine Arts Center on Thursday, July 12, at 12:30 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Magdalena Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jared Key, Dion Ortiz, James Wolfe, Ramon Molina, Kenneth Apachito and Tommy Montoya.
