EMMA DOROTHY MENAH of Abilene, Texas and formerly of Belen, Santa Rosa, Portales NM and San Antonio, Texas passed away June 29, 2012. She was born Emma Dorothy Menah on October 27, 1932 in North Babylon, NY. She graduated from Babylon High School in 1950. Russell Sage College in 1954 and completed a Masters Degree at Hofstra University. A school teacher, Emma taught in West Islip, NY, and she also taught for the Department of Defense Schools in Misawa, Japan, Mildenhall, England and Torrejon, Spain. Emma served her community as a Girl Scout Leader and a member of Opti-Mrs in Belen, NM. She is a post Worthy-Matron and held various other offices in several chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star in New Mexico. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Furthermore Emma's numerous family members and friends will fondly remember her dry, sarcastic, side splitting sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Robert Nicholson, USAF (Ret). Emma is survived by her two daughters, Merry Kotschwar of Tijeras, NM and Lt. Col. Roberta Nicholson USAF of Starkville, MS; grandson, Ty Kotschwar of Albuquerque; and sister Susanna Thomas of Storrs, CT. A Memorial Service will be held Friday July 6, 2012 at 6:00 pm in the Daniels Family Funeral Service Carlisle Chapel. Inurnment will be with her husband in Desdemona, Texas on Saturday, October 27, 2012 In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Lung Association.
