NELLIE MAE (NELL) age 95, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1989, went to be with her Lord on June 28, 2012. She was born to Alec and Lou Hobbs in Beaukiss, Texas, April 27, 1917. While working in Austin, she met and married Thomas P. Wesson in 1938. They lived in many areas of the country during his service in the U.S. Navy and while a pastor in churches in New Mexico and Texas before moving to Rio Rancho. She and Tom made dear friends wherever they went. An avid gardener, excellent seamstress, and accomplished cook, her life centered around her home, her family and her church. At the time of her death she was a member of First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas in 1997; a son, Terry in 2007; her parents; five sisters and four brothers. She is survived by two children: Tom (Carol) Wesson of Bartlesville, OK, and Judy (Gene) Welch of Rio Rancho, NM; four grandchildren: Angela Ward, David Runyan, Michael Wesson, and Stephen Wesson; and four great-grandchildren. The family wants to thank the staff at the Bee Hive Home on Chessman for their excellent and loving care for Nell during the last days of her life. They also want to thank Presbyterian Hospice. Burial will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, July 3rd at 10:30 am. There will be a memorial service at First Baptist Church Rio Rancho also on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Donations may be made in her memory to New Mexico Baptist Children's Home or a favorite charity.
