Obituary for FAULKNER

MICHAEL ROBERT Age 61, longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM departed this life on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 due to complications related to his battle with cancer and kidney disease. Born April 5, 1951, to Robert and Christine Faulkner in Chicago, IL. Michael is survived by a loving wife, Richelle Faulkner; mother, Christine Faulkner; daughters, Nicole and Michelle Faulkner; brother, Darryl (Carolyn) Faulkner; niece, Erika (Stephen) Bordwell; and a host of relatives and friends. Michael attended the University of New Mexico in the early 70's where he established himself as a Lobo basketball standout. Following his collegiate basketball experience Mike continued his basketball career at the professional level performing with international teams in the countries of Mexico, France and Portugal. Michael began his career as an educator as a teacher in the southern California area and completed his 25 year teaching career employed 12 years by the Albuquerque public school system. Mike enjoyed teaching science, and coaching basketball at Van Buren and Washington Middle Schools. Michael was a sports enthusiast and a long time Oakland Raider fan. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Robert Faulkner; and sister, Denise Faulkner. Services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012, 12:00 p.m., at French- Lomas Chapel with Pastor Tom Caffery officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
