Obituary for PARRISH

MARY ANN A resident of Albuquerque since 1980, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012. Mary Ann was born in Stamford, CT on June 17, 1923. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman H. Parrish and her brother, George Beiser. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lee Duvall; her son-in-law, Del Duvall; her younger brother, Charles Edward Beiser; sister-in-law, Cynthia Beiser; six nieces and nephews, and 11 grand-nieces and nephews. Mary Ann was a graduate of New York University Bellevue School of Nursing. She attended Adelphi University and St. John's University, New York, obtaining a Master's Degree in Health Education. She worked at the Wantagh School District High School in L.I.N.Y. as a Nurse-Teacher for 20 years and retired in 1980. She was a Brownie Scout leader, President of the Mid-Island Council of the Girl Scouts and set up the first horseback riding program for the Girl Scouts on Long Island, NY. Mary Ann was a fierce bridge player and Master Gardener. She and Norm spent many hours perfecting their gardens everywhere they lived. She was a member of the Heritage Hills Safety Watch. Mary Ann was an accomplished pianist and member of the Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church. For many years she played piano for events at the church, including the annual Men's Fellowship variety show fund raisers. Most recently she lived at Paloma Landing on North Paseo in Albuquerque, NM. Memorial services will be held Monday, June 11, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at French - Wyoming Chapel. Because of her love of gardening, flowers are welcome.
