ORLANDO C. 1930-2012 Age 82, a resident of Belen, NM passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2012. He was a life-long devoted member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, as well as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Orlando proudly served four years in the United States Navy. He retired from AT&SF Railroad after 36 years of outstanding service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos B. and Felipita Chavez Garcia; brother, Lawrence Garcia; and granddaughter, Dominica Urtiaga. Orlando is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Erlinda Sanchez Garcia; six children, Richard, Kathy and husband, Andrew Urtiaga, Lydia and husband, Brett Dalton, Dennis and wife, Donna, Dora Garcia, Lawrence and wife, Janine; 13 grandchildren, Jacob and Juan Diego Garcia, Andres and Marcos Urtiaga, Lucas, Dakota and Dana Dalton, Deanna and Derek Garcia, Joshua Baca, Justine and husband, Phillip Edwards, Orlando and Carlos Garcia; one great-granddaughter, Riley Baca; three sisters, Dolores Garcia, Ursula and husband, Bennie Sanchez and Eva and husband, Bernard Sanchez. He is also survived by extended family and friends. Riley Baca said "I love Great-Grandpa very much and wish I could have seen him one more day before he died." We all feel the same way. A viewing will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, June 11 at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 12 at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held on Tuesday, June 12 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be his godchildren, Jacob Garcia, Andres Urtiaga, Joshua Baca, Carlos Garcia, Michael Sanchez, Steve Garcia, Mark Sanchez and Marilyn Sanchez.
