DARLENE MARILYN Age 76, passed away Friday, May 18, 2012 with her family by her side, at her daughter's home in Gilbert, AZ. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 3257 E. University Dr., Mesa, AZ. A Graveside Service will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Darlene was born October 7, 1935, in Sherburn, MN to Reinhold and Magdalena Anderst. She was married in 1954 and devoted her life to her husband and five children. They moved their family to Albuquerque, NM in 1963 and finally came to live in the Phoenix Metro area in 1977. Her last few years were spent in the care of her daughter Luanne and grandson Matthew. Darlene was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma. She lived her whole life caring for others and always put everyone's needs ahead of hers. She will be remembered always. Darlene is survived by her five children: Pam Elliott, Steven Sherwood, Luanne Hoxie, Debbie Romero, and Greg Sherwood; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Sherwood. Funeral Services entrusted to Melcher Mortuary Mission Chapel (480) 832-3500.
