Obituary for MONTOYA

RICARDO JR. "LALO" Age 90, beloved uncle and friend was embraced by the Lord and taken to his heavenly home, Tuesday, May 1, 2012. He was a life long resident of Bernalillo, NM, where he was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Lalo was a Veteran of the United States Army who proudly served his country in World War II. He was a Purple Heart recipient. Lalo was a member of the Bernalillo Post of Veterans of Foreign Wars as well as the American Legion. Lalo retired from the New Mexico Veteran Hospital. He enjoyed going to the post office, eating at restaurants and going to K-Mart, where he always enjoyed running into people he knew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ricardo and Teresita Montoya. Ricardo is survived by his loving and wonderful nieces and nephews, Lucy Montoya and Marty Abeyta, Clara Gutierrez and husband Marvin, Albert Montoya, Chris Montoya, Ben Montoya and wife Linda, Jerry Montoya and wife Isabel, Paul, Gene, Nick, Leonard, Georgina, Vince, Christine, Rebecca, Rosemary, Lisa; two sister-in-laws, Nena Montoya and Maggie Montoya; and many friends. Lalo will be greatly missed by all. The family and friends may visit Monday, May 7, 2012 from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, NM, where a Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 9:45 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Albert Montoya, Ben Montoya, Bobby Montoya, Gene Montoya, Chris Montoya, Jerry Montoya and Marty Abeyta.
