MANUEL LEROY A life long resident of Bernalillo passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012 at home. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Bernardita and Filomeno Aguilar; sisters Marianita (Mary) Aguilar, Rita Garcia and spouse Ernest (Ernie) Garcia, Amalia (Molly) Navarro, and brothers Hipolito, Cayetano and Filomeno (Edward) Aguilar. Leroy is survived by two brothers, Filimon and wife Alice of Bernalillo, Raymond and wife Sylvia of Fountain Valley, CA , one sister, Genevieve (Jennie) and husband Gilbert Sandoval of Jemez Springs, his long time trusted friend and companion Algene Herrick and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and customers. Leroy served his country in the US Army stationed in Germany as a medic. He was an acclaimed hair stylist for over 40 years owning his own business, Hair Styles by Leroy. He not only enjoyed working as a hair stylist he also enjoyed gardening, baking, stream fishing and raising his chickens. He will be remembered for his strong character, guidance, sense of humor, and quick wit. Those who were closest will miss him greatly. Mass will be celebrated in his honor on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 301 Camino Del Pueblo, Bernalillo, with Father Stephen Imbarrato. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery, Bernalillo. Pallbearers will be: Ron Aguilar, Ernest Garcia, Hipolito Aguilar, Matthew Aguilar, Anthony Navarro and Gilbert Sandoval.
