STELLA MAURINE (WHITE) Age 96, a resident of Albuquerque since 1982 died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at her home following a long illness. She is survived by her children, Dr. Arthur R. Morton, Jr. (Colonel, US Army Retired) and wife, Marji of Melbourne, FL, Carole J. Bateman and husband, Guy of Rockville, MD and Connie S. Morton of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Arthur R. Morton III and wife, JoAnn of Hebron, Kentucky, Lieutenant Colonel Karl A. Morton, and wife, Jane of Fort Irving, CA and Wimberly, TX; Cheryl L. Avila and husband, Orlando of Melbourne, FL, Brian M. Bateman and wife, Christina of Clifton Park, NY, Michelle Castleton and husband, Lawrence of Jamestown, OH and Jason R. Clair of Albuquerque, NM; great-grandchildren, Margo Morton, Hebron, KY; Crystal Morton, Ft. Irving, CA; Brianna Valverde and Bryce Valverde, of Melbourne, FL, Taylor Bateman, Alexandra Bateman and Derek Bateman of Clifton Park, NY, Amere' Castleton and RanDee Castleton of Jameston, OH. Maurine was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur R. Morton, Sr. in 1981. Maurine was born in Bandera, TX on November 25, 1915. She graduated from high school in San Antonia, TX and married Arthur Morton on February 10, 1935 in Rotan, TX. They moved to Dalhart, TX during World War II; then to Albuquerque, NM in 1944. They moved to Santa Fe, NM in 1948 where they lived until Maurine moved back to Albuquerque in 1982. She was passionate about sewing, crafts and antiques. She was a member of the Eastern Star while in Santa Fe.
