MARGERY MYERS Passed away early on Sunday, April 22, 2012. Wife to one, mother of four, grandmother to eight, aunt to twelve, sister to three, cousin to many, volunteer and friend to countless. She is already missed. Margery was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, George L. Dixon, Jr. Margery is survived by her four children, Wes Dixon and his wife Karen of Leawood, Kansas, Martha Lange and her husband Mark of Granger, Indiana, Jennifer Hamilton and her husband David of Morgan Hill, California, and Amy Dixon of Albuquerque. She has eight grandchildren, Kate, Liz, Brian, Sarah, Megan, John, Jonathan, and Lynda. Margery was born in Colorado Springs in 1930 but the family soon moved to Kansas where she and her three brothers were raised on a dry land 160 acre farm growing corn and beans. A hard but good life. She graduated from Garnett High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Kansas and was working at the University of Iowa where she met George. They married and he enlisted to take his medical residency in the U.S. Army. Over the next eleven years she and George saw the world and built a wonderful family with four children, three dogs and a parakeet. In 1966 they all settled in Albuquerque. Margery was always active in her church. For many years she was honored to serve in the ministry of Altar Guild. She also became very involved with All Faiths Receiving Home. She was an avid gardener and world traveler (always with George). She loved all kinds of music and opera and singing in the choir. The memorial service celebrating her life will be held at The Cathedral Church of St. John, at 3rd and Silver, on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 10:30 in the morning.
