ORA ALLICE (COOKE) JOHNSON Passed away peacefully on the morning of March 5, 2012. She was 98. Alice was born on February 28, 1914 in Paducah, TX, to Clyde M. and Bessie Ada Cooke. Her family moved west across the plains of Texas in a covered wagon. Alice was just six years old at the time. Alice married Nathan Leroy Johnson in 1931. They moved to Flora Vista, NM during the depression. In the coming years they moved to Arizona and eventually back to Albuquerque, ultimately relocating to Socorro. She is survived by their children, Martin Leroy Johnson of Flora Vista, NM and Gladys Bacon-Rust (Ralph) of Veneta, OR; grandchildren, Marty (Teresa), Mark (Pat), Kelly (Debbie) Johnson, Dixie Chapian, Bonnie Newsom, Todd Newsom, and Sherry (Doug) LaVelle; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Nathan preceded Alice in death in 1986. Later she met and married T.J. Youngblood in 1990 and they lived on his ranch outside of Socorro until his death in 1992. Memorial services will be announced in the near future.
