Obituary for YAO

HUNG TEH A longtime resident of Albuquerque, "Yoyo" passed away on Easter Sunday, April 8. Yoyo was born in Shanghai, China on February 1, 1923. He came to the United States in 1971, and became a US citizen in 1996. Bringing his talent as "master chef" from his home country, Yoyo's passion and joy in life was cooking traditional foods. He was a member of the Albuquerque Chinese Baptist Church. A memorial celebrating his life will be held with family and friends. Yoyo is survived by his wife, Kiyo Iho Yao; a daughter, Akemi Rogers and husband Tom of Frederick, Maryland; a son, Masaru Yao and wife Delilah of Albuquerque; four grandchildren, Naomi Swanson, Nicole Blanco-Yao, Jonathan Valentine, and Danielle Rogers; four great-grandchildren, Lucas, Isabella, Eli, and Gabriella. The family wishes to thank the staff at The Rehabilitation Center of Albuquerque for the wonderful care given to Yoyo.
