TERESA K. Age 57, passed peacefully on March 4, 2012. Teresa was born on February 5, 1955, in Albuquerque, to Flaviano and Billie Lou Sanchez. Teresa is survived by her husband Jerry Garcia; her two children, Matt Mashburn and Kellie Latona; two brothers, Flaviano and Scott Sanchez; two sisters, Martha Sanchez and Rebecca Spraggins; a son and daughter-in-law; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and an array of friends and loved ones. Teresa is also survived by her wonderful caregivers, Nancy Yelton, Troy Abeyta and Keli Knaplan. She was preceded in death by her parents. Teresa was a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother and friend. She possessed a deep passion for learning and teaching in addition to a thirst for knowledge. She was an accomplished educator and maintained a devotion to bilingual education. Teresa was a graduate of ENMU, earning both her BA and M.Ed there. Teresa was an East Mountain resident for most of her life and was married to her loving husband Jerry for 11 years. Teresa's love for family and friends, her fondness for reading and gardening are among her charms that will be sorely missed. Her radiant smile and laugh are irreplaceable and will live on within us.
