CORDELIA O. Age 92, a life long resident of Nambe passed away Tuesday morning at her home following a short illness. Cordelia was born in Nambe on November 20, 1919, to Feliciana and Juan Ortiz. Cordelia operated a country store in Nambe from 1947 to 1999. She was loved, respected, and admired by many in the Pojoaque/Nambe valley. Cordelia was preceded in death by her husband, Serafin Roybal; her grandson, Dennis Romero; her brother, Gillie Ortiz; and her sisters, Adella Luna and Yolanda Vigil. She is survived by her sister, Loyola Alarid and husband Benny of Santa Fe; daughters, Nancy Romero and husband Robert of Jacona; Betty Romero and husband Joe of Jaconita; Rosemary Oswald and husband Sam of Lubbock, TX; sons, Serafin Roybal, Jr. and friend Anita Romero of Nambe; and Ken Roybal and fiance Doris Gomez and son Chris of Santa Fe. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Robert, Chris, Kathleen, John, Santiago, Lita and their mother Christine, Jason, Philip, Jonathon, Joseph, and Kenneth; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Alicia, Nico, Cassie, Luke, Sarah, James, Andrew, Reese, Collin, Spencer, Nathan, and Mandy. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Thursday, March 1, 2012 and Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm at Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Church in Pojoaque. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Friday at Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Church in Pojoaque. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Cordelia's memory be directed to the Carmelite Monastery, Mount Carmel Road, Santa Fe, NM 87501.
