Obituary for RUDOW

HENRY J. (HANK) Henry J. "Hank" Rudow, Major USAF, Res. Ret. passed away on February 19, 2012. He had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1961. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry W. and Cleo M. Rudow of Maumee, OH, and his son, Hank W. II of Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise; step-daughter, Lynne Taylor and husband, Lou of Wichita, KS; step-grandson, Shawn Taylor and wife, Lynn of Hayden, ID; cousins, Betty Neitzel of Bethesda, MD, George Langenderfer and wife, Sally of Cincinnati, OH, and JoAnn Mooney and husband, Frank of Lake Havasu City, AZ. Hank, as he was known, was born in Toledo, OH on November 19, 1921 and attended the University of Toledo. He was hired by AT&T in August of 1941 and enlisted in the Army Air Force as an Aviation Cadet in August, 1942. After flight training, he was assigned as a B-17 Pilot with the 398th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force stationed at Nuthampstead, England. He flew 34 combat missions over Europe and was hit by flak on the 34th and landed at Duffel, Belgium. After service in WWII he resumed his career with AT&T working in Chicago, San Francisco, and Albuquerque and retired in February of 1984 with over 42 years of service. He was a Past Commander of Park Forest, IL American Legion Post 1198, Past President of the New Mexico Chapter of the 8th Air Force Historical Society, Past Exalted Ruler of B.P.O.E. #461, a PDD and Past State Elks Trustee. He was also a longtime Chairman of #461's Veterans Service Committee. Friends may visit French - Wyoming Chapel Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Services will be held at the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE, on Friday, February 24, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow.
