Obituary for RYAN

ROBERT R. Age 87, passed away peacefully at home on February 14, 2012. He was born on March 18, 1924 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to John V. and Velma Ryan. He is survived by his son Michael Ryan and wife Janel of Farmington, NM; two daughters, Kathleen Go and husband Kunio of Palos Verdes Estates, California, and Charlene Rasmussen and husband Jim of Livingston, Texas; and daughter-in-law Barbara Lewis of Albuquerque, NM. He has six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Therese Ryan; his second wife of 54 years, Charlotte Ryan; son Darrell Lewis and grandson Scott Rasmussen. Bob grew up in Albuquerque and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1941. He joined the Navy during World War II, serving on the destroyer U.S.S. Hale from 1943 to 1946 in the Pacific theatre. After the war, Bob returned to Albuquerque, receiving a degree from UNM. He spent more than forty years in the title business, retiring as Metropolitan Manager for Ticor in 1989. Bob's passion was Rotary International, where he was a member since 1967, and served in a variety of positions, including District Secretary. He was the recipient of their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010. Bob most enjoyed being with his family and many friends. Everybody who met him was struck by his kindness and sense of humor. He will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Albuquerque Rotary Charitable Foundation, 3301 Menaul N.E., #22, Albuquerque, NM 87107.
