ANNE ELIZABETH Age 74, passed away January 19, 2012 after a battle with Colon Cancer. Get your regular Colonoscopy! She is survived by her six children, Kathleen A. (Cooney) Ritschel, Colleen A. Cooney, James W. Cooney, Daniel J. Cooney, Maureen J. (Molly Cooney) Preston and Eileen M (Mimi Cooney) Gifford; sister-in-law, Julia (Haid) Rody; and ex-husband, James D. Cooney of Albuquerque. Anne was the daughter of Bill and Agnes (Brady) Rody of Elkhart, IN who preceded her in death along with two siblings, M. Kathleen (Rody) Bell and William Patrick Rody; and brother-in-law, C. Edward Bell. Anne graduated from Elkhart High School in 1955 and attended Ball State Teachers College on a State Scholarship. She transferred to St. Mary's College from where she graduated in 1959. While attending St. Mary's, she portrayed Laurey in the Notre Dame Theater's production of Oklahoma and Polly in the Boy Friend. She lived many years in Parkersburg, WV where she served as secretary to the Parkersburg Catholic Elementary School Board and President of the Women's Auxiliary of Parkersburg Catholic High School. Anne served St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Parkersburg as a Lector CCD instructor and a member of the Liturgy Committee. She continued her work at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande in Albuquerque. Anne worked for the NM Educational Assistance Foundation and Sprint PCS, from where she retired. Mass of Resurrection will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2012, 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande, 5901 St. Joseph Dr. NW, 87120. Readers will be Dennis Ritschel, David Preston and James D. Cooney. Gift Bearers will be James J. Gifford and her nine grandchildren. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her six children. A reception will be held at French, Westside location, 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial contributions may be made in Anne's name to St. Josephs' Indian School, PO Box 300, Chamberlain, SD, 57325-0300 in support of the Lakota Indian Children.
