GILBERT age 78 , a resident of Los Lunas, went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, January 4, 2012. He was a Koren War Veteran and a retired PHD from the Federal Government. Gilbert is also a retired Deacon after serving thirty years at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Albuquerque. He is preceded in death by his mother, Eufelia Valverde and his father, Antonio Valverde. Gilbert is survived by his loving wife, Ella Valverde; sons, Marvin Valverde and his wife, Teresa and Arthur Valverde; daughters, Donna Cisneros and her husband, Larry and Shirley Gutierrez; brothers, Don Valverde and Joe Valverde; grandchildren, James Valverde, Jackie Sanchez, Joseph Valverde, Daniel Valverde, Alicia Gutierrez and Dominic Cisneros and great-granddaughter, Lorelai Valverde. All services will be held at San Clemente Catholic Church beginning with a viewing on Sunday, January 8, 2011 at 6:00 PM followed by recitation of the Rosary at 7:30PM led by Deacon Jim Snell. A final viewing will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 8:30AM and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00AM with Father Stephen Hickman officiating. A reception will be held at the church Parish Hall following the Mass from 10:00AM to 12:00PM. Gilbert will be laid to rest following the reception at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00PM.
