Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday January 01, 2012

JUANITA MARIE Loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many went to her final reward to live with Our Father God and His precious son Jesus, Our Wonderful Savior on December 25, 2011. She will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to know her. She was born on December 22, 1928 and her wonderful parents Andres and Remedios Chavez did a lovely job raising her and her siblings, teaching them to love and forgive others always. Our mother was a dedicated Christian and put Jesus first in everything she did. She was a fine example of His love in the earth during her 83 years. She is survived by her caring daughter Patricia Ann Taylor who took care of her for the last eight years since her stroke. She is also survived by one son, Angelo A. Mastronardi and his wife Teresa. Juanita has four beautiful grandchildren, Dana Richard Fenton , Darrin Lee Fenton, Cindy and Jessica Mastronardi and two lovely great-grandchildren, Allyssa Amor Quezada-Fenton and baby Dino Fenton. The great-grandchildren brought her much comfort and joy. Her only surviving sister, Dorothy Chavez, 92, lives in San Mateo, CA. and has been there for my mom and me via phone calls all during the past eight years. For this I say a Great Big Thank You from my mom. My mom's only surviving brother is Andres "Joe" Chavez who was of great help to her in the early years when she was raising my brother and I. For this I am very grateful to him. She was preceded in death by her sisters Mela and Josephine Barreras and her brothers Al Chavez and Pete Chavez all of whom she loved with all her heart. My uncles Al Chavez and Pete Chavez also helped my mother and were very good uncles to me and my brother. Juanita worked for the City of Albuquerque for nearly 30 years where she retired. Her hobbies were sewing, working in her yard, cooking, dancing and helping others. Services will be announced at a later date due to churches being closed for the New Year's holiday. Please send no flowers as my mom always said she did not want flowers after she was gone and could not enjoy them but instead send whatever you can to St Jude CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL, P.O. Box 50 Memphis TN, 38101 in memory of Juanita Mastronardi. This will make her very Happy. Thank You. Salazar and Sons Mortuary 400 3rd Street SW Albuquerque, New Mexico www.salazarandsonsmortuary.com
