MARILYN M. 85, passed away peacefully at her daughter's house in Los Lunas, N.M., on Thursday, December 22. Marilyn was born in Tucson, Az. in 1926 to Elwin G. Wood and Mable F. Wood. She graduated one year early from Tucson High in 1944. Marilyn earned a B.S. in Business Administration at University of Arizona. Upon graduation, she took classes at the University of Colorado where she met her husband Morris Bernard Henrikson. The love of her life. They married in 1948. Marilyn taught one year each in Wyoming, Oregon, and California. Morris was a principal and superintendent. They settled in Albuquerque, N.M. where she continued her education earning a Master's Degree plus 65 hours in Business Management, Education, and Vocational Business Education at the University of New Mexico. Marilyn was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon for 57 years servicing philanthropic projects. She was also a member of BPW Business Professional Women's Association and the Friendship Force. She had a big heart, helping others without expecting anything in return. She was quick to give compliments with a sparkle in her eye and a vibrant smile/presence. Marilyn loved her husband dearly and would do anything for him. Marilyn and Morris loved camping, and even built a cabin together in 1972. In her last days, she enjoyed viewing the photos of her cabin and the Brazos River that runs beneath the deck of the cabin. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mable F. Wood, her father Elwin G. Wood and her loving husband, Morris B. Henrikson. Marilyn is survived by son, Lee Henrikson and wife, Ruth, of Bountiful, Utah; daughter, Kari Melendrez and husband, Michael, of Los Lunas; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel beginning with a viewing on Thursday, Dec. 29, at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery.
