ELIZABETH (BETTY) JOHANNA 1914-2011 Age 97, a resident on Belen, NM, was born June 15, 1914 in Boyden, IA and died December 21, 2011. Betty married her high school sweetheart, George, on Jan. 10, 1934, in Belmond, IA. She spent her first years of married life being a homemaker raising three children in northern Iowa. As the children grew older she worked as a church secretary and as a retail sales clerk. Betty became an avid antique collector and seller along the California coast during her and George's retirement years. She and George loved to travel in their Airstream camper around the United States. After moving to Belen, NM, Betty enjoyed feeding and watching the many birds in her back yard. Up until his death she and George could be found dancing at the senior centers in Belen and Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by daughter, Aileen Joyce (deceased 1952); and husband, George (deceased 12/1/2011). The surviving family members are son Richard Lee Fetrow of Waldport, OR; daughter Carol Joan Geihs of San Luis Obispo, CA.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
