BYRD P. Passed away at the age of 88 on Tuesday, December 20, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Richard L. Simmons. She is survived by her son: Richard E. Simmons and wife Deborah; daughters: Melanie Bowley and Dana, Deborah (Debbie) Wesbrook and John (Joe); eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Byrd was co-owner of Simmons & Simmons Fine Books at 4015 Central NE for 23 years. A Life Celebration will be Friday at 5:00 p.m. in the Reflection of Life Chapel (Washington and Cutler NE). She will be buried with her husband Richard at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe at a later date. Contributions may be made to American Humane Society.
