Obituary for BUGOS

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday December 15, 2011

ROBERT MERRILL Age 48, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 12, 2011. He was born in Homestead, PA on January 2, 1963, to Michael and Jean Bugos. Mr. Bugos graduated from Grove City (PA) High School in 1980. He attended and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University. He was a diehard fan of the music group, Rush! Employment at Sandia National Laboratories brought him to New Mexico in 1984 where he was employed at the time of his death. He was a brilliant engineer whose insight and innovative spirit enabled many important technological advances, and there wasn't a problem he couldn't solve once he put his mind to it. He was a leader and mentor who will be deeply missed. Though he never served in the US Armed Forces, his contributions to their safety can only be matched by his deep and abiding patriotism. His greatest joy came from his family. Mr. Bugos was affectionately known as the "Dance Mom" and "Sound Man" for his daughters' dance productions at Elite Dance Studio in Albuquerque. His computer skills allowed him to engineer the music for their dance routines. He, also enjoyed coaching his sons' soccer teams. A man of few emotions, the birth of his grandson, Mason, and the love he has for his children could bring tears to his eyes. He was so proud of his family. Mr. Bugos, also enjoyed remodeling his home and fixing cars. All who know him will forever remember him as very generous and kind. His presence will be deeply missed. There is a huge hole in our hearts that not even the million memories we have of him can fill. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Bugos in 1984. Robert is survived by wife of twenty years, Donna J. (Lawlor) Bugos of Rio Rancho, NM; mother and stepfather, Jean and Dewey Rearick of Grove City, PA; children, William, Wesley and Chelcie Hammond, and Jacob and Allyson Bugos, all of the Albuquerque and Rio Rancho area; beloved grandson, Mason Hammond, of Rio Rancho, NM; sisters, Diana Gray and her husband, Barry, and Dorothy Densmore; brother, Rev.
