Obituary for GREENLEAF

RICHARD EDWARD Age 81, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011. He is survived by sister-in-law, Carla Mae Greenleaf of Albuquerque, NM; nephews Randy Greenleaf and wife, Cyndi of Henderson, NV and Robert Greenleaf and wife, Bridgett of Albuquerque, NM; great nephews and nieces; Kyle, Shannon, Keven and Julie and three great-great nieces and nephews Rylee, Hunter and Atticus. Dr. Greenleaf was preceded in death by his father, Frank Oliver Greenleaf; mother, Grace Jane (Poindexter) Greenleaf and brother, Joe Oliver Greenleaf. Dr. Greenleaf was a distinguished Latin American and New Mexico historian. Richard Greenleaf began his teaching career at the University of Albuquerque in 1953. He moved to Mexico City in 1954, where he taught at the University of the Americas, later serving as Chair of the Department of History and International Relations, Academic Vice-President and Dean of the Graduate School. In 1969, he accepted a faculty position at Tulane University, assuming the directorship of the Center of Latin American University, assuming the director Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, November 25, 2011, 3:00 pm at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona St. NE, with Rev.
