WALTER F. (BUD) COL. USAFR (RETIRED) Passed away on November 14, 2011. Walter served in the Armed Forces during World War II, Korea, and the Vietnam Conflict. He retired in 1974 and took up residence in Rio Rancho, NM. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Helen Barbara Roeckel. He is survived by their three children, Cathy Dahlstedt of Rio Rancho, Jeffrey and his wife Donna of Glen Allen, VA, Gary of Alma, CO; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his second wife, Evelyn L. Kirk, who joined with him in matrimony in 1999, and his brother, Kenneth of Salisbury Mills, NY. During retirement Walter was active in community affairs, serving on the committee to incorporate Rio Rancho as a city. He organized and chaired the local chapter of Crime Stoppers and served as City Aviation consultant to the Mid Rio Grande Council of Governments. Walter was an avid golfer and worked on the Rules and Course Rating Committee with the Sun Country Golf Association. He was past president of the New Mexico Seniors Golf association and was a charter member of Council 6696, Knights of Columbus. Private family services will be held.
