GEORGIANNE SMITH Of Albuquerque, NM died peacefully on November 16, 2011 surrounded by her family, after a long battle with cancer. Born in West Allis, Wisconsin in 1946, Georgianne was the oldest of six children of John Podrug and Emily Podrug (nee Obradovich). A career employee of A T & T, Georgianne worked in the Midwest and East coast before moving to Albuquerque in 1992, to join Sandia National Laboratories as an Organizational Development consultant. During her career, she advised and supported numerous Sandia organizations including Sandia's senior leadership team in the areas of organizational design and change and executive succession planning until her retirement in 2009. A graduate of the Pepperdine University Master of Science in Organizational Development program, Georgianne served as a mentor and coach to many program participants, and traveled internationally with them as part of their studies. Georgianne was a member of the Enchanted Mesa Show Chorus, performing throughout the state and in regional competitions. In love with her family's native Croatia, she and her husband traveled extensively throughout the country, connecting with extended family on the Dalmatian Coast. Georgianne is survived by her husband, David A. Baca; stepson, Nathan Baca and wife, Mary Jo Baca; granddaughter, Scarlett Ann; her siblings, George Podrug (Geraldine), Linda Frisbie, Patricia Podrug (Thomas Dowd), David Podrug (Franca) Roberta Podrug (James Ohlschmidt). In addition she leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members in New Mexico and Wisconsin, and many beloved friends who will cherish their memories of her beautiful life. A private memorial will be held to commemorate her life and accomplishments. Georgianne supported many charities in New Mexico and around the country.
