Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday October 06, 2011

MARION Age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30, 2011, following a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, E. A. "Phil" Phillips. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Lynn Loomis, and beloved grandchildren, Brynlyn and Devon Loomis. A native of New Mexico, Marion grew up in Farmington, moving to Albuquerque at the age of fourteen. As a young girl she loved playing the piano at church, through which she made many lifelong friendships. She met and married her husband "Phil" while singing in the choir at the First Baptist Church of Albuquerque. Marion was a devoted homemaker and mother for many years. She loved sales, starting as a salesclerk at J.C. Penney's, and later helping her husband manage their wholesale business, "Phil-mar". Marion enjoyed the many travels that life brought her, from her husband's U.S. Air Force career during World War II to their later treks to business conventions. The couple loved visits with family and relatives, and for many years maintained lively and loving connections with family members across the country, attending many family reunions of the McIlhaney, Craft, and Phillips families. In healthier days, Marion showered her family with affection and love, and was a proud mother and grandmother. A service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at French - University Chapel. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
