Obituary for SELVA

RALPH HENRY 85, a life-long resident of Albuquerque went to rest in the arms of his Lord on Wednesday, September, 21, 2011. He is survived by his children, Kathryn Berkebile of TN, Stan Selva of Albuquerque, Brad Selva and wife, Bonnie of Tome, NM, and Cole Selva of Columbus, OH; seven grandchildren, Cari Burks, Amy Berkebile, Molly Cole, Emily Wooden, Amanda Akin, Shawn Michael Selva, and Crystal Montoya; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Lawrence L. Selva, and Charles J. Selva; sister, Eugenia Rendace; one niece, several nephews; and other relatives, caregivers, and friends. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Kipp Selva in April 2010; his parents Lawrence and Mary Selva; infant brother, Stanley Selva; and sister, Norma Jackson. He was born in 1926 in Albuquerque and joined the Marine Corps at age 17 and survived Iwo Jima and served a full four years. Ralph retired from PNM after 35 years of service. His life was spent loving his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and mentoring many. Ralph was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A Prayer Service will be held at French--University Chapel, Monday, September 26, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandson, Shawn Michael Selva; nephews, Jeff Jackson, Chuck Jackson, Tom Rice, and Mitch Rendace; and friend, Randy Stygar.
