Obituary for MOORE

LOU Age 81, died in her home in La Luz New Mexico, on Saturday, September 17, with her daughters at her side. Billie Lou was born on July 23, 1930, in Ft Worth, Texas, and was raised in Idabel, Oklahoma. She was a resident of La Luz, New Mexico since 2000 and before that, a resident of Albuquerque NM since 1963. She attended Gray High School in Idabel where she was undoubtedly the most popular girl there, being head cheerleader, homecoming queen, student council president and much more. Her children and grandchildren, however, believed her most outstanding accomplishments were in her parenting and grandmothering skills. In Albuquerque, Lou worked for several dental offices as office manager. After she retired, she moved to La Luz where she was active in the CASA program as a childrens' advocate. She was also a part of the Calico Club where she had many friends. Lou was known for her creativity, sense of humor and her many comical tee-shirts. As an avid reader, talented artist and seamstress, she was often called upon by her friends, family, and co-workers to come up with something clever to fit any occasion. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Edith Kuykendall; sister, Joan Ray; brother, RD Kuykendall. She is survived by her children, Linda Maestas and husband Frank, Suzie Fresquez and husband Julian, Jan Sanchez and husband Filbert, and Wil Moore; a brother, Randy Kuykendall and wife Sonja; her sister-in-law, Jean Kuykendall; Lou had eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 1:00 p.m., at the Burro Flats Volunteer Fire Department, 556 Laborcita Canyon Rd. La Luz NM. A private interment will be held in Idabel OK at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Friends of Burro Flats Volunteer Fire Department, 556 Laborcita Canyon Rd, La Luz NM 88337.
