GRAYDON L. "SLIM" Age 97, died Monday, September 5, 2011. He is survived by his wife Shirley Welch; his son, Ronald Welch and wife Rosemary Urban; grandchildren, Matthew Welch, Joshua Welch and wife Haley, Gwendolyn Welch-Mosimann and husband Mike; great-grandchildren, Maria and Willow; step children, Glenda, Ken and Karen Freberg. Graydon was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Margaret Anne Welch and son Brian Edwin Welch. Graydon loved to fly and owned five airplanes. While living in Los Lunas, his airplane hangar was attached to his home and he would taxi down the street to take off. "Slim" enjoyed boating and actually lived on his boat for a year in Florida. He had a fascination with the Titanic, studied it and visited where it was built and where it sank in the Atlantic Ocean. Graydon and Shirley also enjoyed many cruises together. Mr. Welch was an aeronautical engineer and worked for McDonald Douglas Aircraft until he retired. Burial has taken place in Sault Ste Marie, MI at Pine Grove Cemetery. An UPDATED MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held Sunday, September 25, 2011, 1:30 p.m. at St Paul's Church of Christ Church in Rio Rancho.
