Obituary for STOKES

ROBERT LYTLE Age 94, a long time resident of Albuquerque, died August 16, 2011. He is survived by his brother, Roger L. Stokes of Lafayette, Colorado; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Stokes was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Stokes; his parents, Robert and Nell Stokes; his sister, Marlyn Brunner, and his brothers, Donald and James Stokes. He was born June 24, 1917 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years. He then moved to Colorado to work in various mines. He and Margaret managed the St. Germain Foundation's Lodge on Brown Mountain in Ouray for several years. In around 1945 they came to New Mexico where Mr. Stokes studied at UNM. In addition, he and Margaret opened the first health food store in Albuquerque, The Fountain of Health. Mr. Stokes was tireless in his devotion to his church, the "I Am" Activity of the Saint Germain Foundation. He and his wife Margaret were instrumental in building the sanctuary in Albuquerque and in providing for many of its needs with his own blood, sweat and tears. He loved life and was always active, traveling the world. He made many trips to Mt. Shasta in California and to his beloved Ouray, Colorado. He was a delightful person to be around. Services will be held Monday, August 22 at 1:00 p.m. at French - Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE in Albuquerque.
