Obituary for MILNER

LARUE HAYNES (PINKIE) LaRue Haynes Milner (Pinkie) passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011. She was born in Muskogee, OK, graduated from Ponca City, Oklahoma High School and attended business college in Tulsa, OK. She was employed by Oklahoma Natural Gas Company in Tulsa before enlisting in the Womens' Air Corp and served as executive secretary to the Commanding Officer of the Intelligence Division at Amarillo Air Force Base. She later transferred to the U.S. Recruiting Service in Denver, CO where she served until being discharged in 1945. She married William R. Milner of Battle Creek, MI in 1945 and, after residing in Tulsa, OK, they moved to Santa Fe, NM in1965. There she was employed as executive secretary with the State Corporation Commission and the New Mexico Game and Fish Department. In 1972, her husband accepted a position with the Boy Scouts of America as Director of Administration at the Philmont Scout Ranch near Cimarron, NM. They resided at Philmont for 13 years then, upon Mr. Milner's retirement in 1983, they moved to Albuquerque and LaRue became an active and loved member of PEO Chapter AM. She also did volunteer work at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital. Her husband, William R. Milner, predeceased her in 2007. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2011, 11:00 a.m., at French - Wyoming Chapel. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
