Obituary for SEGOVIA

JUAN GERARDO Age 58, died peacefully in his Rio Rancho home on Saturday, August 13th after a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer. He was born in La Blanca, Texas, and resided the majority of his life in Rio Rancho and Albuquerque, NM. For most of his working career he was involved in the family construction business until September of 2002 where he worked for Lowes Home Improvement Center. After his love for our Lord Jesus Christ and attending BSF, he had a passion for collecting Star Trek and comic book hero memorabilia. Although he was a quiet and humble man, he was strong in his love for his family and friends and had had a loving orneriness and wit to entertain all who had the privilege of spending time with him. He was truly a gentle warrior. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lorraine; his daughters, Sandra and Jackie; his parents, Juan and Sara Segovia; brothers, Alvaro, Enrique and wife Yvonne; sisters, Patricia Segovia and Patrick Mileshosky, Sara Segovia, Lorena Frias and husband Richard; his mother-in-law, Emma Ferris; brother-in-law, Jerry Ferris and wife Crystal; sister-in-laws, Maggie Padilla and husband Paul, Marie Hoagland and husband Danny; nephews and nieces, Carlos Cordova, Michael Montoya, Shamaine, Tomas, and Amanda Segovia, Tessa and Dante Frias; Tim and Sonia Padilla, Stephanie and Michael Peters, Darlene and Reza Ghoreyshi, Lisa Ferris, Courtney and Evan Hoagland; grand-nieces, Erica Segovia and Sophia Griego, Danielle and Marissa Padilla, and Ashley Peters; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 19, 11:00 am at Calvary Chapel, 4001 Osuna Road NE, Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to Stand Up 2 Cancer (www.standup2cancer.org).
