LORRAINE (OPP) 1926-2011 Age 84, a resident of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Belen, N.M., passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 8. She was born on Sept. 17, 1926 in Hazelton, N.D. When she was seventeen years old, she met the love of her life, Carl Steiner and they wed two years later after the war. Lorraine embraced Jesus and became a Catholic soon after. They lived a loving and blessed life together for 65 years. Lorraine was an energetic vibrant lady whose passion and pursuit of pride reflected in all she did, whether it was gardening, baking pies, needlework, or jerky making. Her many devotees gave her the name "The Jerky Lady." She loved laughing and visiting with friends and family. She was devoted to her husband, and they were never apart. Her children and grandchildren all have wonderful remembrances of grandma. She is survived by her devoted husband, Carl; children and their spouses, Tom and Carla, Linda Jones, Greg and Clara, Debbie and Bill Earle, Mille Jean and Larry Elkins; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Claudia, Karen, and Donna. A Viewing will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A Final Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.
