Obituary for MCILVAINE

SAMUEL ELLIOTT (SAM) Died Tuesday, August 9, at the age of 85. He was born in Louisville, KY on May 11, 1926, to Lionel and Sue McIlvaine. He served in the V-12 program of the U.S. Navy during WW II, and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1948. He was employed for 37 years by the Reynolds Metals Co. and lived in Chicago, southern California, and Ohio during his years of service to them. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Belen, where he was an elder and sang in the choir. Sam was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Nancy Burbank; an infant brother. He is survived by his wife, the former Janet Schneider of Petoskey MI, whom he married on August 26, 1950. He is also survived by his children, William B. McIlvaine and wife, Pat, of Mt. Sinai, NY, Barbara Cushman and husband, John, of Albuquerque, Ian S. McIlvaine and wife, Jeannette, of Long Beach, CA. His grandchildren are Benjamin Brown (Kathleen), Celia Wallace(Brian), Adrienne McIlvaine, Heather Draskin (Tim), Stephanie Ruales(Jimmy), and Gracie McIlvaine. Michael Peter Ruales is his great-grandson. He is also survived by two nieces and a nephew. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Belen on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Sam's name be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Belen, Kaseman hospice, or a charity of your choice.
