Obituary for PADILLA

CORNELIO S. 93, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on August 5, 2011 at home with his loving family at his side. Mr. Padilla is survived by his beloved wife of seventy years, Mrs. Mary Padilla; his children, Cornelio Padilla Jr. and fiance, DaNita, Rita Martinez, Patrick Padilla and wife, Tucker, July Ainslow and husband, Will, Helen Sanchez and Joe, Alex Padilla and wife, Beverly, and John Padilla and Kimberly; his sisters, Dionicia Chavez, Beatrice Contreras, and Alice Baca; 18 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; a family friend, Mimi Greenwood; and many nieces nephews, cousins and friends. A special thank you to Zia Hospice for their kindness. Mr. Padilla was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Guadalupe Padilla; and his brothers and sisters. Mr. Padilla was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII, and was the recipient of the Good Conduct and American Theatre Victory Medal. Visitation will be Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW, with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m., by Father Bill Sanchez. Final visitation will be on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Father Bill Sanchez, presider. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Patricio Padilla, Alex D. Padilla, Jason Padilla, Joshua J. Padilla, Eli M. Padilla, and Will Ainslow.
