CAROL LAVONNE Age 83, a resident of Albuquerque for 62 years, died Thursday, July 28, 2011. She is survived by two children, Paul T. Dropinski and Kay L. Jorgenson, both of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Anna, Christina, Paul, Heather, Carol, Tammy, Harllee, and Kathy; several great-children; sisters, Bobbie Hopperstad and Patty Stevens; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. Carol was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Dropinski and Richard Ross; daughter, Patricia Ferguson; and brother, Tom Hughes. She was born on June 17, 1928 in Lincoln, NE to Ethel and Thomas Hughes. Carol graduated from high school in Lincoln and married Paul Dropinski and started her family. They moved to Albuquerque for work and she began to work at the Nazareth Sanitarium in the North Valley, where she worked for 20 years. She then married Richard "Dick" Ross. Carol loved to work in her yard, keep her house immaculate, and shop. She also loved to travel, especially trips on the train. Carol was very outspoken and nothing could embarrass her. She often said that "she never disliked anybody, but just didn't understand some things they did." Carol was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
