Obituary for MCCLURE

JAMES D. Age 78, passed away at his Albuquerque home after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born in Leavenworth, KS to Arthur and Dorothy McClure. Jim graduated from the University of Kansas in 1955, served in the Army, and earned his master's at KU in 1959. He came to Albuquerque in 1961 to work at Sandia National Laboratories. Jim earned his PhD from the University of New Mexico in 1971. Jim was a long time adult leader in the Boy Scouts of America, including serving as Scoutmaster for two troops for many years. He also participated in many volunteer activities at church and in the community. Jim was a much loved husband for 54 years, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Jim is survived by his wife Pat; son, Mark McClure and wife Molly of Las Cruces, NM; son, Brent McClure and wife Susanna of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Beth Henderson and husband Monte of Louisville, CO; son, Scott McClure and wife Robin of Alexandria, VA and son, Bruce McClure of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by his brother Kirk McClure and wife Jeannie of Lawrence, KS; a sister Kathleen Desch and husband Bill of Fayetteville, GA and sisters-in-law Judith McClure of Warrensburg, MO and Marietta Powers of La Jolla, CA. Jim was loving grandfather of six grandchildren: Seth and Anna McClure, Alec and Henry McClure, Taite and Reed Henderson and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held on August 6, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Mark's on-the-Mesa Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond Drive NE 87106.
