Obituary for HODOCK

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday July 12, 2011

MARY A. Age 95, was born October 8, 1915 to Mary and Michael Dedich in Cambridge, Ohio. On July 7, 2011, she quietly passed away in the family home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael and her son, Joseph. Mary was a generous woman who tutored children while in high school and did not attend college in order to help her brother, Michael, pay for medical school. When she married her military husband, she became the ultimate mother and multi-tasker When her husband was on out of town assignments, she was both mother and father to her children. Mary also managed to move the entire family to wherever the next military assignment was. She was blessed with an irresistible personality and a strong will and it was this will that enabled her to actively live her 95 yrs., and enabled her to leave this earth on her own terms to rejoin her loved ones who left this earth before her. Her great sense of humor and a very strong belief in God was shared daily with family and friends. She was blessed with a keen mind that was with her to the end. Mary was the example of how a mother and wife should be and she will greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Mary is survived by her daughters, Barbara and Teresa Hodock of Albuquerque, Suzie and Lee Duff of Las Cruces; her sister, Helen Kelly, aged 98, Sarasota, Florida; daughter-in-law, Maureen Hodock of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Megan and Robert Schuller of Las Cruces; grandson, Colin and Heidi Duff; great-grandson, Tristin Duff, Roswell; grandchildren, Michael, Stephen, Katie, Annie and John Hodock of Albuquerque; numerous nieces and nephews. The family wants to thank Presbyterian Hospice for their gentle care and guidance. They also thank Dr. Richard Roche, Dr. Steven Wrege, Dr. Bernard Agbemadzo and Dr. Bette Allen and the staff at Presbyterian Wound Care for their gentle and loving care. Pallbearers are, Lee Duff, Colin Duff, John Hodock, Stephen Hodock, Michael Hodock and Joe McGuire. Tristin Duff is an honorary pallbearer.
