GEORGE A. April 12, 1926 - July 4, 2011 Went to be with the Lord at age 85, after a long battle with multiple myeloma. George was born in Amanda, Ohio, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a parachute rigger. He attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and received his degree in Elementary Education. After marrying his wife Donna, they moved to Albuquerque in 1950 where he began his career with Albuquerque Public Schools as a physical education instructor at Lavaland Elementary School. After receiving his Master's Degree in School Administration in 1956, he became a principal at Los Padillas Elementary School. He continued to work as a principal at several schools up and down the valley before retiring from Alameda Elementary School in 1986. After retirement, George continued working with elementary children by volunteering to read with 2nd graders at Kirtland Elementary School. He was a charter member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and was active in the congregation for many years. George enjoyed playing senior softball, fishing, University of New Mexico Lobo athletics, and lots of traveling. He is survived by his wife, Donna, of 61 years; children, Ronica Caudill and husband Richard, Ned Barr, Rhoda Cain and husband Lee, Alene Hardin and husband John. George also has five grandchildren, Amanda and Bryan Cain, Kelsey Lenzmeier and husband Jason, Wes Hardin, Lynley Herig and husband Mitch. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 5301 Ponderosa Ave. NE, at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22nd.
