Obituary for MILLER

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday June 19, 2011

DIXIE ADELINE Age 93, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, June 16, 2011. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Wesley Miller; niece, Vicki Christensen and husband, Paul of Albuquerque; niece, Judy Nixon of Nevada; nephew, Keith Rutherford and wife, Sharon of Placitas; and other relatives and friends. Dixie was preceded in death by her three sisters, Edna, Pauline and Sicely. She was born in Dehue, West Virginia to Mollie Jane and Granville Paul Harvey and graduated from Huntington High School. She loved to paint, was an avid reader, and loved her flower garden, feeding the birds, and singing. She could spell any word backwards faster than you could spell it forward. Dixie was our family historian. She was an excellent typist and a wonderful seamstress, making doll clothes for her niece's dolls and sewing her own dresses. In her younger years she and Wesley loved to hike, go camping, and traveling. Dixie loved the Southwest and the sunshine. She was a loving wife, aunt and great-aunt, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her beloved "Bailey". As Dixie would say, "Always have a song in your heart." Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011, 11:15 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St. Santa Fe, NM.
