Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday June 09, 2011

RUTH L. On Sunday, June 5, 2011, Ruth L. Davis, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully. Ruth was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Ruth Kathleen Davis. She is survived by her sister, Marian Alice Brecht Frazier; her daughters, Kathryne Laurene Davis and Judy Ann Davis Groves; her granddaughters, Guenevere Ruth Groves McMahon (Charles Bernard McMahon) and Aleta Laurene Groves Robertson (Brian Thomas Robertson); her great-grandchildren, Spenser Alexander Lopez, Dru Kyrie Lopez Herrera (Nicholas Zachary Herrera), Savannah Croix Robertson, Hugo Groves Robertson and Cormac Chapman McMahon; great-great-granddaughter, Aubreana Faith Herrera; and many dear nieces and nephews. Ruth was born in Broken Arrow, OK, the first of six children born of Walter Henry and Bertha Laurene Smalley Brecht. She grew up and was educated in Oklahoma, and moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1950 with her husband, Mace Willard Davis. Ruth was a devoted homemaker and mother, while helping to establish Davis the Plumber, Inc., in addition to teaching piano lessons for many years. Later, she worked as a teacher's aide at Jackson Junior High School until retirement. Upon her retirement, she moved to Las Cruces, NM, where she resided until her death. Ruth was active in Extension Club, her church (St. Paul's Methodist), Chilly Dillys, the Retired Educators Association and had an extensive network of friends. In an electronic era, Ruth was an avid letter-writer, whose lovely handwriting never wavered with age. Ruth was the cherished matriarch of our family and she will be sorely missed by everyone whose lives she touched. A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2011, 11:00 a.m., at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale SE, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
