JOANNE JOHN Age 84, the "Shady Lady" of Shady Lakes, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on May 28, 2011. She was born September 4, 1926 in Galveston, Texas to Richard H. and Clara S. John. She is preceded in death by her husband James Clayton Phillips Jr. (Jim) and eldest son James Clayton Phillips III (Jay). She is survived by her children Jeanne Phillips, Jill Mikles, Jan Phillips, John Phillips, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She and her husband Jim founded Shady Lakes in 1962. "Ms. P" was an avid birdwatcher, gardener and world traveler. She lived her life as most of her generation who survived the Great Depression and WWII; with a strong work ethic, productivity, and integrity. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Global Health Partnerships. A Memorial and celebration of her life will be held June 12, 2011 at 5:00 p.m., at Shady Lakes 11033 Hwy 313 NW (North 4th Street) with a reception immediately following.
