Obituary for MARS

Virginia Marie Mars passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 23, 2011. She was born on March 9, 1925 in Hendersonville, PA, the youngest of three children of Harry C. and Ella Gorley. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Edwin P. Mars. She is survived by her three daughters, Carol Kindley, Marlene Moynihan and husband, Terry, Pam Tanner and husband, Scott; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Lisa) Kindley, Ryan (Maria) Moynihan, Kimberly (Jason) Genobles and Brad (Wendy) Moynihan; and five great- grandchildren, Laura and Matthew Kindley, Tori Genobles, Annabelle and Joseph Moynihan; her sister, Ann Stright also survives her. Virginia made a career change in her late 40's returning to college to get her RN degree. She worked at Presbyterian Hospital in a field she loved, caring for others. Virginia was a wonderful cook and loved to share her culinary creations with friends and family. She was a member of San Marcial Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years. The delights of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called her GiGi. She also enjoyed lunching with her friends. Virginia spent the last 18 months at Canyon Transitional, and her final week in the care of Kaseman Hospice. The family would like to thank these "angels" for the care and love she received during this time. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary of ABQ, located at 4001 Osuna Rd. NE with a reception to follow. Cremation has taken place and a private committal will be held later.
