Obituary for TOENNIGES

Howard "Howie" T. Toenniges, age 91, died peacefully in Albuquerque on May 12, 2011 following a short illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Maude Toenniges; and a grandson, David Dickens. He is survived by three children: Holly Boyle of High Rolls, NM, Susan Dickens of Clovis, NM; and Jay Toenniges of Las Cruces, NM, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was born February 20, 1920 in Rock Island, Illinois. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II stationed in China and Burma. In 1946 he married Maude Williams, and after living briefly in the midwest, they moved to Albuquerque in 1954. He worked for 32 years at the VA Hospital as Chief of Medical Photography and retired in 1975. He and Maude enjoyed many trips and adventures together during the remainder of her life. Services will be held at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. Internment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery Monday June 27th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make donations to the American Lung Association.
